Things are looking up

Just a quick update, today went much better! Two great things happened - I got some positive feedback this afternoon at work. Apparently I'm making my presence known (in a good way) all ready! The other good thing was I managed our evening routine well enough that we had 30 minutes to just hang out together between dinner & the bedtime routine.

Thirty minutes might not sound like much, but it was heavenly.

My training wrapped up today, so tomorrow is my first "solo" flight. Wish me luck!

I survived!

I made it through my first day of work! Which was fine, lots of information to process as you might expect. So far, it continues to meet my expectations.

I didn't manage to get through the day without a load of mommy guilt. I picked up the girls from the sitter, made and fed them supper, then sent them to bed within an hour and a half of getting home. Ick! It was not my idea of fun. It had me wondering what the heck was I thinking about this job thing!

Where is Sean, you ask? Oh, yeah. He's in DC for the week on a business trip. Gotta love the Navy's timing!

It's too soon to make any decisions - especially since I'm juggling my first week back at work with solo parenting. I'm going to focus on surviving day by day and keep the faith that it will get easier. For everybody.

Especially my lovely spouse, who's continuing on from his business trip to enjoy a Phillies game with his Dad on Saturday. (I approved that get-away before I got the job offer.) Yes, he owes me big time!

Look out, I'm gainfully employed!

I received some great news this morning - I've been given a verbal offer for an Admin Support job at Brown and Caldwell, an environmental engineering firm located in Virginia Beach. The starting salary is awesome and the company seems to really take care of their employees, not to mention the environment.

I think I was in shock when I first got the news. Between that and the Noon dental appointment to get a cavity filled, the excitement is just now starting to kick in.

I don't have a whole lot of details on the job yet, but I would expect to start before the month is out.

Of course, I'm also starting to freak a little bit about the transition to a family with two working parents. Eeek!

ETA ~ I'll get the official job offer in writing next week, but my start date is Monday, Sept. 22!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

I'm hanging up my SAHM hat.  At least, I'm trying to.

I've been "itchy" for a while, which the bakery job scratched for a bit.  But the hours have never been easy, especially since they can't pay me enough to afford childcare.  So I work on Saturdays.  Which is great for working on wedding cakes but not so great if you want to spend time with your entire family.

I'm now officially looking for full time work.  It's been slow going.  Lots of resumes have gone out and so far, just one interview (this morning, actually).  The internet makes it easier to job hunt.  But like any subject on the internet, there is a lot of garbage!  It's been quite the experience learning how to filter through it.

Keep your fingers crossed for me as I hunt for the right job.  I'll be sure to post an update as soon as I have a concrete job offer.
