Cake time!

No, not mine! This one is another work effort.

With it being the height of wedding season, I have not had the chance to ice & decorate a cake from start to finish in a while. Today, I got the chance to ice quite a few!  Seven, to be exact.

This one was almond cake with almond buttercream icing & fondant flowers:

More cakes!

I decorated some fun cakes last weekend. First, a birthday cake for a 10 year old football fanatic.

The second birthday cake was for a young lady. Her mother took the princess theme very seriously.

We knocked it out of the park!

This Sunday, LaChoclatier Bakery participated in the VoW Wedding Show in Virginia Beach. Out of around 50 vendors, we were the only full-service bakery participating. Not only did we talk to a lot of brides who said they'd be calling us, but we got many positive comments from other vendors. It was nice to see all our hard work pay off!

Check out the bakery website for a nice recap of the event. I helped out with all four cakes featured, but especially this one - I got some guidance from Lia, but iced & decorated it all by myself.

More cake fluff

This was a fun cake to do despite all the piping. The guy who picked it up said it was "perfect." Can't complain about that kind of customer feedback!

The green lines are called cornelli lace.

The green disc on top is made of fondant and I free-handed the pea pod.

More proof!

This weekend, we worked on a big cake order. First, there was the groom's cake. The groom is part of the team that developed the hugely-popular computer game called World of Warcraft. We made a cake to look like a set of axes & shield. I unfortunately don't have pictures of that one. But, here's the crest that was on the cake:

We also had a bunch of snowflake sugar cookies and -of course- the wedding cake!

The cake was designed to mimic the detail work on the bride's dress. That meant a LOT of detail work. A true team effort. The bride was thrilled with it!

The proof is in the photos

I've helped with plenty of others, as well. These, however, were mostly my effort.
