Progress

The geothermal contractor is moving fast! Today, they hooked up the new hot water heater. With the hot water recovery system on the geothermal system (which uses the heat pulled out of the air in hot weather to make hot water) we're actually increasing our capacity from 50 to 80 gallons. One gas water heater (40 gallon) and an electric feeder tank (40 gallons). The electric one isn't powered, that's where the city water is mixed with the geothermal heat. Confused yet? Bottom line, our gas hot water heater will hardly need to work when the A/C is running.

They also got the geothermal compressor connected and the loops pressurized. Tuesday, their next workday, will involve installing the air handler and the rest of the hot water recovery system. We'll probably be using the new system on Tuesday night!

In the annoying category, we have another electrical glitch. First, we have the fluorescent lights in the garage not working. Today, the hallway light stopped working. A new (working) light bulb didn't correct the problem. *sigh* I had an electrician out today to look at the garage lights, but he was completely uninterested in repairing them. Said we should just get new ballasts. So, Lowe's it is. Hopefully the hallway light will be an easy fix.

Tomorrow, we head north to Lancaster to visit the Gillespie gang for the holiday weekend. Looking forward to it!
