A good day in spite of the change in plans
Ernesto blew through Moyock this morning and by midday the skies were clearing. Decided to head out to Chesapeake to check on the house and scratch the consumer itch.
Getting from my parents' house to Moyock was the hardest part. We took a different road that Mom had heard was the "driest" during flooding. I still had to drive through some standing water, which is nerve-wracking. Especially when you're driving a brand new vehicle that you haven't even made a payment on.
The carpet should be complete by now! When we arrived at the house, they were about halfway done. It looks great and I'm really happy with the color choice. Once again, I forgot to take photos. I've only carted the camera back and forth three times now.
Unfortunately, the two door contractors didn't come by. Not sure yet if they're working tomorrow or not, suspect it will be next week before I get estimates on the door. Meanwhile, we're going to proceed with the bamboo installation. The installer (Todd) is going to start in a different corner and leave the area around the door unfinished until we get the door fixed. It definitely needs attention, there was a fresh puddle in a new spot when we checked it today.
Hopefully Todd will work tomorrow, which means it might be done by Wednesday. I'm hopeful I can schedule the furniture to arrive on Thursday & Friday. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
When we arrived at the house, I saw our neighbor, Gene, and waved when we drove by. He looked confused until I pulled up in front of our house. He came over and gave me a big hug and said he was glad to see us back. I've been looking forward to seeing all my neighbors again, that was a nice start. Have I mentioned how much I like where we live?
Tried to get Mary's school physical squared away this afternoon, but when I called they had sent non-essential personnel home. So, will have to drive Mary to school on Tuesday to turn in the form and get her settled in her classroom. Not ideal (especially the part where I have to get all of us up and moving for a 7:50 am start at school) but we'll manage.
Meanwhile, I have nothing planned for tomorrow. I'm going to sleep until I wake up (though I suspect my carbon-based alarm clocks might be working despite it being the weekend). We may or may not head back up to Chesapeake. We'll figure it out as we go.
