Well, it's been a very interesting few days in the Gillespie household. Tiffany (my midwife) called me from JFK airport on Thursday in near-hysterics to cancel her trip. I still don't have details on the "why," but it boiled down to the fact that she was not in a place where she could take care of someone else (namely, me!). I thanked her for her honesty, hung up and fell apart. Here I am, 38+ weeks pregnant and suddenly without a midwife. YIKES!

Thankfully, I have found another midwife willing to fly here! Cathi is studying to be a certified professional midwife. She has studied with Ina May Gaskin, a nationally renowned midwife, for the past 3 summers and has served as a primary midwife for several births. In some ways, she has more experience than Tiffany, so this is working out for the best. She's going to hook up with Robin (the m/w who delivered Margaret) for a refresher early this week before hopping on the plane to Korea on Wednesday. She'll arrive here Thursday night, ironically on the same flight my parents are flying from Chicago.

So, can only hope that Five will cooperate and wait (I still have a week until my due date). So far, no signs of readiness to leave the womb. Needless to say, I am feeling better now the plane tickets are bought, but will not be able to completely relax until Cathi is actually here. Only a few more days!
