Still preggo, but things are starting to move along. Baby is definitely getting lower and the Braxton Hick (practice) contractions are getting more noticeable. Set up the baby's Amby hammock and assembled the birth kit today, so not much left to do!
Had a checkup at the hospital today. My CNM (who I was scheduled to see) was still on leave, so I got to see one of the OBs. He did an u/s to check amniotic fluid, plenty still there. He told me he didn't want me to go past 41 wks because then I might not be able to birth vaginally. On the one hand, I'm glad he wants me to avoid the c/s, but jeesh, I don't grow big babies. He suggested a cervical gel to prime my cervix if I haven't birthed by Monday. We'll see, I don't think we'll have to worry. I refused an internal, which he was just fine with. He was also funny...when he talked about not wanting the baby to get too big, I asked if he could estimate my baby's weight. He said he couldn't accurately guess, and any OB who did was "bullshit." Yes, he really said that! He was funny in a refreshing sort of way.
Cathi (who came along) got a big kick out of the whole prenatal exam. I just nodded my head through some of the OB's talk and she was tickled to death knowing what was going on in my head. (Dr., if you only knew what I was planning! ). Oh, and I actually lost 2 pounds from my last checkup, which Cathi says is a good sign, too.
Thought I'd snap another picture of the bump since its days are numbered. The first is todays at 40 wks 1 day, the 2nd is 34 wks 4 days for comparison.
TTFN!
