Went in for a prenatal checkup and my "big" ultrasound today.

Had a nice chat with the CNM at the prenatal checkup. She's newly arrived to the hospital staff and apparently the first m/w on staff. She's feeling her way, says the OBs on staff are mostly open to her but she's busy educating them. Would you belive they only have 5 on staff in their OB/GYN clinic? They manage 30 births/month + prenatal & GYN care. WOW.

As far as the u/s went, baby is growing as expected, right on target size-wise. The u/s tech mentioned it was a "tiny baby" then went on to explain that 20 weeks was a better time to have this u/s. Whatever. I was told to get it between 17-20 weeks, and this was the appointment I was given. Got a new picture of the Bean's big head, will post that later tonight.

Put on a few pounds since my last checkup, and a few people have commented that my belly was really starting to show. Really felt my age/experience at the OB clinic this morning. This young thing was in line behind me and asked how far along I was. I responded, "17 weeks" and her jaw dropped. Turns out she was 24 weeks with her first and far smaller than I. She went on to complain that she was so tiny. *sigh*
