Well, I'm legal! To drive, that is. Retook my test yesterday and got my license. Yes, you read that right. Failed on my first attempt last week. Of course, smart pants passed and was sure to point out that he didn't miss any questions. Then he offered to give me a ride. He's lucky to still be standing.
Had a very productive day yesterday. Got my license in the morning, then attended a Korean language class offered on post for free. I've missed the first few classes, so we'll see if I stick with it or perhaps wait until the beginning of next month when it starts over. Got a few other errands done, then came back and worked on the living room. The top of the entertainment center was covered with music CDs and such. Got it all cleared off and installed the rear speakers for our surround sound system as well. Now I just have to get the piano cleared off and the living room will be nearly done!
Today is the command picnic, should be fun. The Navy MWR (Morale, Welfare & Recreation) here does great stuff, so I'm looking forward to seeing what activities they have for kids. The MWR runs a restuarant called the Navy Club that's wildly popular, so they have lots of funding for us Navy types. They have all kinds of travel tours available at really reasonable prices, we hope to take advantage of some of those soon.
Read an interesting editorial in the Korean Kerald today, thought you might be interested. Don't know how much coverage it's getting in the states, but the US told Korea this week that they want to reduce the number of troops in the region. The big hoopla is the US wants to start pulling them out a lot sooner than originally planned. The editorial provides some nice perspective on how both Americans and South Koreans might be perceived.
Had a bit of scare yesterday, our property manager contacted us because the tenant had called in a problem with the a/c. When he called our home warranty company, they informed him the contract had expired. Yikes! I had visions of a new condensor dancing in my head as I called the warranty place. Got the contract renewed and they said it would be retroactive, thank goodness. Emailed my property manager with the update, knowing that he had already called his HVAC guy to address the problem. There was an email waiting this morning, his guy had already visited the place, but thankfully found nothing wrong. Even better, he mentioned that the inside of the property "looked great." A happy ending all around.
Boy, this turned into a novel. Gonna go grab some breakfast and get some things done before the girls are up and moving. (Actually Margaret was awake and is back down again). TTFN!
