For those of you contemplating a visit to South Korea, thought I'd post about "Reunion in Korea," conducted by the Korean Travel Bureau.
"The Reunion program is conducted for the purpose of enabling USFK members to bring their family members for a visit to Korea at a reduced cost. Since 1981, nearly 18,000 family members and more than 7,900 USFK personnel thoroughly enjoyed their participation in the five-day program in Korea. Participants have described the Reunion visit as a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience."
There's two ways to participate; you can purchase airline tickets through them at a reduced rate [$875 from MA/PA/DC] or you can purchase tickets & attend a (newly-shortened) 3-day tour of Seoul with daily side trips to DMZ/Panmunjom, a palace and the Korean Folk Village and special tours to a Korean ceramic pottery factory and a Buddhist Temple in Ichon [$1,220 from MA/PA/DC with hotel stay in Seoul].
Details regarding dates, etc., are on the website (see link above). You can arrive up to two weeks prior to the actual tour. Gene's parents, Paul & Ginny, visited a year or so back via this program. Suspect the airfare alone is a good deal. If you decide to come and want to do the tour, we (family members living here) can also join. I believe you can also do the tour without staying at the hotel. Lots of options!
Anyways, thought I'd share this info I just discovered!
