Well, I finally heard back from my boss, Rich. Looks like he wasn't able to work through the details to "rehire" me. He's reporting to yet another boss, I'm sure that didn't help my cause. I'm dissappointed, of course, but not surprised by his answer. I'm going to check with the banking center here on base one last time before hanging up my career hat with the bank. I've worked there since 1993!

I noticed a poster last week for a new program the Navy is sponsoring for spouses. It's called Military Spouse Virtual Assistants. The program helps you get set up as an independent contractor and then refers customers to you based on your skill sets. Certainly right up my alley considering I've telecommuted for the past five years. I'll probably explore the program, the training session is in late January. I'll be very interested to learn how broad their base of potential clients are.
